As we round out another exciting year in the obesity field, I reflect on some of the most important developments, and challenges, that have been top of mind this year.
We’ve learned more about the benefits of weight management medications to weight-related health conditions, including heart failure, diabetes prevention, obstructive sleep apnea, fatty liver disease, and osteoarthritis.
Barriers to use of weight management medications persist. We need to continue to work together as a community of health care providers and people living with elevated weight, to overcome these!
The importance of mitigating muscle loss with highly effective weight management strategies, and how to diagnose excessive muscle loss (sarcopenia).
Diabetes remission, and whether lifestyle change alone should be a recommended strategy.
What to do with GLP1-based medications before anesthesia or sedation remains a clinical conundrum.
I’m super excited for an exciting year ahead. Stay tuned to my blog and podcast for new developments!
A heartfelt thank you to all my readers and listeners out there, and a very Happy New Year to all.
